The New York Jets received a welcome injury update as tight end Mason Taylor is set to return from a two-game absence due to a right thumb injury. Taylor, a second-year player drafted in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, missed his first two games of the season but has recovered quickly, ready to contribute again.
His return adds another dimension to the Jets' offense, particularly in the run game where he serves as a blocker, and provides quarterback Geno Smith with an additional receiving option. Taylor had a strong rookie campaign with 44 catches for 369 yards and a touchdown, though his season has been slowed by the injury and a slow start with just two catches for a loss of two yards this year.
While Taylor’s absence, along with running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, leaves the Jets with key absences against the Browns, his return is a positive development. Rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq stepped up in Taylor’s absence with seven catches for 105 yards and a touchdown in the last game, but struggled without a catch in the previous matchup.
The Jets also made roster moves, activating wide receiver Tim Patrick off injured reserve and elevating linebacker Jaden Keller from the practice squad, while waiving wide receiver Jamaal Pritchett. Additionally, three Jets players—safeties Dane Belton and Minkah Fitzpatrick, and defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr.—were fined for unnecessary roughness in the previous game against the Bears.
