Pat Cummins points to batting collapse after Australia’s series loss to South Africa

Australia suffered a 176-run defeat against South Africa, a result that cost the visitors their top position in the ICC Test rankings. Despite holding a strong advantage after the first innings, the Australian batting order collapsed on the final day, with seven players failing to score as they were dismissed for 111 runs in their second attempt.

Captain Pat Cummins attributed the loss to a failure to capitalize on set positions, noting that the game slipped away within the first hour of play. While acknowledging the team's recent struggles, including a previous loss to Bangladesh in Durban, Cummins maintained confidence in his squad's ability to regroup before their upcoming series.
