Lightning star Nikita Kucherov reportedly requests trade from Tampa Bay

Reigning NHL MVP Nikita Kucherov has informed the Tampa Bay Lightning that he will not sign a new contract and has formally requested a trade. The star winger reportedly shared this decision with his teammates while traveling on the team plane this past Friday.

This development follows a recent milestone for Kucherov, who surpassed Steven Stamkos to become the franchise's all-time leading scorer after recording an assist on a goal by Brayden Point.
