Brisbane Heat veteran Jess Jonassen will miss the entire 2026-27 WBBL season due to a hip injury. Acting on medical advice to avoid the complications she faced while playing through a shoulder issue last year, the bowler aims to resume training in December and return for WNCL action in January.
The club is currently searching for an international replacement to join the squad before their October 30 opener against the Sydney Sixers. Coach Mark Sorell expressed disappointment regarding the loss of the league's most capped player but intends to utilize her expertise for match planning during her recovery.
Catherine White was recently added to the roster as a separate signing, and Jonassen's absence also impacts her availability for the upcoming WPL auction scheduled for October 28.
