Former India strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai single-handedly refutes claims that Rohit Sharma is lazy regarding his fitness. Desai explains that the 39-year-old batter has struggled with a severe hip injury since 2017, which occurred during the Champions Trophy loss to Pakistan.
Because of this, Sharma has undergone surgeries on his hip flexor and hamstring, leaving his hip as a persistent weak point.
Desai warns that Sharma must maintain at least two strength sessions per week to avoid becoming a ticking bomb. Meanwhile, former New Zealand assistant coach James Pamment, who spent eight years as a fielding coach for the Mumbai Indians, supports the decision of Rohit and Virat Kohli to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Pamment believes these senior players should be allowed to decide their own retirement timing based on their performance.
