Punjab Kings has confirmed the departures of two key coaching staff members ahead of the 2026 season, marking a significant shift in their backroom setup. James Hopes, who joined as bowling coach alongside Ricky Ponting in 2025, will now take over as head coach of Queensland and Brisbane Heat in Australian domestic cricket.
Meanwhile, Brad Haddin—who had been fielding coach since 2022—will lead New South Wales as their head coach. Their exits follow the earlier departure of spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule, who moved to the Indian men’s team, leaving PBKS with a reduced support staff as they navigate a challenging season.
The team had a mixed start to 2026, winning six of their first seven matches before losing six of the next seven, ultimately missing the playoffs.
