The Los Angeles Dodgers secured their spot in the National League Championship Series for the third consecutive season after defeating the Atlanta Braves 4-1 in Game 4 of the NLDS on Wednesday. Playing at Truist Park, the victory marks the eighth time in 11 years that the Dodgers have reached the NLCS under the leadership of manager Dave Roberts.
The Dodgers now await their next opponent, which will be either the Milwaukee Brewers or the San Diego Padres.
The NLCS is scheduled to begin with Game 1 on Sunday, with national television coverage across FOX, FS1, FOX Deportes, and FOX One. The location of the opening game depends on the opponent.
If the Dodgers face the Milwaukee Brewers, the series will start on the road in Milwaukee. However, if the Dodgers play the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles will hold home-field advantage.
In the Game 4 clincher, Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages delivered a crucial two-run single in the seventh inning, driving in the winning runs of the matchup. Reflecting on his performance, Pages said in Spanish, "I like being in those at-bats.
There are times the result comes, sometimes not. But I prepare to be in those spots, and today I was able to get the result." President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman praised the outfielder, stating, "My favorite players [are] the ones where you just keep ripping up the sheet in terms of what the strengths are, what the goals are, and they just keep exceeding expectations.
And Andy has definitely been that."
The Dodgers have established exceptional road dominance in the postseason, winning their past five road playoff games dating back to Game 2 of the 2025 World Series. Furthermore, the team is 10-1 in its past 11 road postseason games and 14-3 over its past 17 road playoff contests.
During the NLDS, the Dodgers utilized a starting rotation of Tarik Skubal, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow. Looking ahead to the NLCS, manager Dave Roberts is likely to swap Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the starting rotation.
Roberts also expressed strong confidence in his players, stating, "I believe in him. I feel that for us to win the World Series this year, we're gonna need him to be an active part of our team."
Out of the bullpen, Edwin Díaz has been highly effective since returning from the injured list on Sept. 18, throwing eight scoreless innings while allowing only two hits and one walk alongside 12 strikeouts.
During the NLDS, Díaz struck out two batters in a perfect inning in Game 2, and subsequently converted save opportunities in both Game 3 and Game 4. The Dodgers signed Díaz to a three-year, $69 million contract last offseason.
"The last two nights, it's been amazing. That's why I came here: to win games and close games like this one.
So I'm really happy right now," Díaz said. The postseason run has also drawn significant public interest, as Game 1 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and the Braves averaged 5.37 million viewers on Fox.
