Georgia secured a major commitment from the top-rated junior college prospect in the country, cornerback Alius Mayo, after he flipped his pledge from Cal following the Golden Bears' loss to Clemson. The recruitment effort was heavily driven by associate head coach and defensive backs coach Donte Williams, whose own background playing at Pasadena City College helped him forge a strong connection with the newcomer regarding his path to major college football.
This addition strengthens a Georgia class that now holds 21 verbal commitments overall, while head coach Kirby Smart and his staff continue to draw talent out of California.
