During the third match of the series against West Indies, Indian opener Rohit Sharma reached his seventy-fifth century partnership in the fifty-over format. He and teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad put together a vital stand worth one hundred thirty-seven runs for the third wicket to rescue the innings after the hosts lost their first two wickets with merely four runs on the board.
Rohit eventually departed after contributing ninety-two runs from eighty-five deliveries. With this latest milestone, the veteran batter occupies the third position on the all-time list for century partnerships in international one-day matches, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad made history by becoming the fifteenth different player to partner with Rohit in a century stand within this format.
