IND vs WI: Gill slams India’s ‘sloppy’ fielding after defeat in final ODI

Following a five-wicket defeat in the concluding fixture against West Indies, India leader Shubman Gill expressed strong dissatisfaction with his squad's defensive execution during the series. Despite securing the home ODI series victory, the captain pointed out that his team put down multiple chances in the final game and roughly seven total throughout the three matches, which repeatedly disrupted their rhythm.

Gill also noted that poor ground coverage conceded excessive runs and increased pressure on the bowling attack, adding that there is minimal scope for testing combinations with the upcoming ODI World Cup approaching. He specifically mentioned Anshul and Auqib as important candidates for the lower-order all-rounder position, while indicating a desire to lock in the primary lineup starting from the next assignment.
