Prithvi Shaw has been named to captain the Maharashtra squad for their opening Ranji Trophy contest against Services, filling in while regular leader Ruturaj Gaikwad fulfills international duties with the India A team. Shaw transitioned to Maharashtra ahead of the previous domestic campaign and emerged as their leading run-getter, making him a logical choice to steer the side for this single fixture at the start of October.
The upcoming Elite Group C match is scheduled to take place at Palam A Stadium in Delhi.
Along with Shaw taking the helm, the squad announcement included veteran batsman Ankeet Bawane alongside bowlers Vicky Ostwal, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, and Mukesh Choudhary. The selection committee also elevated several promising young prospects, bringing Saurabh Navale, Sachin Dhas, and Rishikesh Sonawane into the mix to strengthen the roster for the forthcoming tournament opener.
