New Zealand secured their first victory of the T20I series in Auckland on Friday, defeating India by 87 runs. Glenn Phillips, who became the second Kiwi batter after Colin Munro to score a T20I century against India, led the charge with a hundred.
He was supported by Michael Bracewell, who scored 65 runs off 25 balls, helping the hosts amass 259/7. India, despite winning the toss and electing to bowl, failed to reach the target.
Jacob Duffy dominated the Indian chase with a four-wicket haul for 23 runs. He removed Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the opening over, while Abhishek Sharma managed only 27 runs from 15 balls.
Mitchell Santner provided further support with 2/24 in four overs, as India's batting lineup collapsed under the pressure of the required run rate. The series concludes on November 1 at Seddon Park in Hamilton, with New Zealand trailing 1-3.
