Hyo Joo Kim’s Chip Hits Marker, No Penalty Called

During the second round of the LOTTE Championship, nine-time tour winner Hyo Joo Kim experienced a bizarre incident when her chip shot struck a playing partner's marker on the green and sent it bouncing into the air. Despite the unusual occurrence, Rule 13.1d applied to the situation, meaning she faced no penalty for the accidental movement and simply had to replace the ball.

Unfortunately, the relief did not save her tournament standing, as she ultimately missed the cut by a single stroke after finishing her second round at two-under par.

Other competitors faced difficult weather throughout the event as well. First-round leader A Lim Kim noted that the course required careful trajectory control due to persistent winds and alternating rain showers.

Meanwhile, Yu Liu described the challenging environment while finding some relief during calmer moments, and Ina Yoon also dealt with the difficult conditions on the course.
