The 2026 Hero World Challenge has revealed its near-final lineup, featuring seven of the world’s top 10 golfers, including reigning FedEx Cup champion Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Cameron Young. The tournament, hosted by Tiger Woods at Albany in the Bahamas from December 3–6, has left three spots open under a ‘TBA tournament exemption’—a move that could allow Woods to join the field without displacing another player, should he choose to compete.
Woods, who has not played since missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship, has faced significant health setbacks, including an Achilles rupture in March 2025, back surgery in October 2025, and a rollover car crash in March 2026 that led to a reckless driving charge. His recent appearance at a junior clinic at Pebble Beach and his inclusion in the third season of *The Golf Club* have reignited speculation about his return, though no official timeline has been announced.
If Woods does compete, it would mark his first appearance since the 2023 Hero World Challenge, where he hosted the event. The Bahamas course, known for its relaxed pace, could serve as an ideal venue for a gradual comeback, especially given Woods’ eligibility on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour at age 50.
