Tennis star Jessica Pegula publicly criticized United Airlines following a chaotic travel experience where her flight was initially canceled, only to be reinstated while her luggage remained on board. The athlete reported being stuck on the aircraft for over two hours during heavy rain before the plane departed without her.
Ground staff were unable to provide clarity on the situation, prompting a social media complaint from the World No. 5.
The airline has since reached out to the player to address the incident.
Pegula is currently preparing for the WTA Finals, which are scheduled to take place in Indian Wells. This follows a disappointing second-round exit at the Wuhan Open, where she was defeated in three sets by Jelena Ostapenko.
The upcoming year-end tournament will feature a competitive field including Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Muchova, and Linda Noskova.
