Andy Roddick recently suggested that Juan Carlos Ferrero is partnering with Ben Shelton as a strategic move to challenge Carlos Alcaraz. This development follows the conclusion of the professional relationship between Ferrero and Alcaraz, which ended last December after a tenure marked by numerous major and masters-level victories.

Roddick believes the former world number one is leveraging his experience to help Shelton, who previously defeated Alcaraz in a five-set match at the 2026 US Open. The transition for the new coaching duo is scheduled to take place during the upcoming offseason ahead of the 2027 tour.
