Giants’ Paulson Adebo heads to IR as his rough start to 2026 takes another hit

The New York Giants have moved cornerback Paulson Adebo to injured reserve because of a knee problem, marking his second straight campaign dealing with knee troubles. Adebo, who joined the franchise as a $54 million free agent in 2025, surrendered his starting role to Deonte Banks during training camp.

During the Week 1 meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, Adebo stepped onto the field for ten defensive plays after Banks suffered cramps and a calf issue, tallying three tackles and surrendering 25 yards through the air.

Head coach John Harbaugh noted on Friday that while Adebo is managing a persistent knee ailment, surgical intervention is not currently anticipated. The transaction comes right before the team travels to face the Los Angeles Rams, leaving the secondary severely depleted as Banks remains day to day and Greg Newsome II also contends with physical setbacks.
