During a match between Liverpool and Arsenal, pundit Gary Neville strongly criticized a Premier League regulation requiring players treated for suspected head trauma to spend sixty seconds off the pitch. The incident occurred after Milos Kerkez collided with Kai Havertz, prompting referee Andy Madley to halt play.
Although Kerkez required no medical intervention and stood back up immediately, the directive forced Liverpool to play shorthanded for a full minute while trailing one-nil with twenty minutes remaining.
Neville condemned the policy as ridiculous, warning that it will eventually harm a club during a major fixture. While awaiting permission to re-enter under the guidance of official Andy Madley, Dominik Szoboszlai temporarily covered the defensive position.
Liverpool's medical personnel opted against withdrawing the twenty-two-year-old at that moment, though Kostas Tsimikas eventually replaced him in the eighty-first minute.
