Brian Branch, DJ Wonnum leave Vikings game with concussions

During the opening half against the Minnesota Vikings, the Detroit Lions suffered a major blow when defensive standouts Brian Branch and DJ Wonnum collided during a passing play targeting Justin Jefferson. Branch collided helmet-first with his teammate while trying to make a defensive stop, resulting in both athletes being escorted from the field and subsequently ruled out for the rest of the contest due to concussions.

Wonnum required a cart to exit the area, while Branch managed to walk back toward the locker room independently.

The unfortunate collision occurred during only the second appearance for Branch since his return from a torn Achilles sustained the previous December, and rookie Keith Abney stepped in to fill the vacancy. Meanwhile, Wonnum shares the team lead in quarterback sacks with five.
