Tilak Varma spearheaded a successful run chase for India in the second T20I against New Zealand, scoring an unbeaten 51 from 26 deliveries to secure a four-wicket victory. After the team stumbled to 70/5, Varma combined with Naman Dhir for a 42-run partnership before teaming up with Nitish Kumar Reddy for an unbroken 69-run stand that pushed India to a 2-0 series lead with one ball remaining.
Varma credited his performance to guidance from Gautam Gambhir and Sitanshu Kotak, noting that he and Reddy executed a tactical plan to rotate the strike against spinners before targeting the pace of the fast bowlers.
