Lyle Odelein, a rugged blue-liner who logged 16 campaigns across eight different National Hockey League franchises and hoisted a championship trophy with Montreal, has passed away at the age of 58 following a heart attack. He entered the league in 1989, spending his first seven years with the Canadiens before eventually being chosen in the expansion draft to become the inaugural leader of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Across 1,056 total appearances, the veteran skater accumulated 50 goals, 202 assists, and over 2,300 penalty minutes, later settling in Pittsburgh after hanging up his skates.
