Five newcomers included in Pocognoli's first Scotland squad

Newly appointed Scotland boss Sebastien Pocognoli has named five uncapped players in his maiden roster ahead of the team's forthcoming Nations League campaign, pledging to bring joy to the Tartan Army. The fresh quintet features Sevilla attacker Robbie Ure, Brondby defender Luis Binks, Celtic's Colby Donovan, Hearts winger Josh McPake, and Swansea City's Stephen Welsh.

In addition, Hull City forward Oli McBurnie has secured a long-awaited recall after last representing his country back in 2021, while goalkeeping duo Scott Bain and Jon McCracken re-enter the fold following Craig Gordon's international retirement after the World Cup. Napoli's Billy Gilmour is another returning figure, having overcome the knee problem that kept him out of the World Cup to complete consecutive 90-minute appearances versus Arsenal in European competition and during a 1-0 league triumph against Bologna.

Pocognoli faces several key absences, however, as Napoli standout Scott McTominay is currently recuperating from a minor heart procedure, Rangers marksman Lawrence Shankland has been ruled out by a hamstring complaint, and Torino attacker Che Adams remains sidelined. The full squad also contains goalkeepers Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly; defenders Josh Doig, Luke Graham, Jack Hendry, Aaron Hickey, Scott McKenna, Nathan Patterson, Andy Robertson, and Kieran Tierney; midfielders Ryan Christie, Lewis Ferguson, John McGinn, Kenny McLean, and Lennon Miller; alongside forwards Kieron Bowie, Findlay Curtis, Ben Gannon-Doak, and James Wilson.

Scotland's Nations League calendar begins on September 26 against Slovenia at 2pm, followed by encounters with Switzerland on September 29, North Macedonia on October 3, a reverse fixture against Slovenia on October 6, a second match with North Macedonia on November 13, and a concluding trip to Switzerland on November 16, all kicking off at 7:45pm.
