Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman delivered a match-winning century in the tri-series final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, equaling India’s historic 2002 Lord’s record for the highest successful run chase in an ODI final. Chasing a target of 326 against Sri Lanka, Zaman scored an unbeaten 127 off 99 balls, anchoring Pakistan’s 331-run total with a crucial 149-run partnership with Saad Baig.
The hosts, led by Shaheen Afridi, secured a three-wicket victory with nine balls remaining, lifting the trophy after a dominant batting display. Zaman, who had struggled in his first four matches of the tournament, credited patience and preparation for his breakthrough performance, noting that he simply waited for the right moment to capitalize on his form.
He also praised Baig’s aggressive approach, which stabilized the innings after early wickets fell, including Babar Azam’s five-ball duck. Zaman’s innings earned him Player of the Match honors, while Baig’s maiden ODI half-century (74 off 75) further bolstered Pakistan’s triumph.
