India’s batting lineup faced a stern test during a high-pressure nets session at Eden Park ahead of their five-match ODI series against New Zealand, starting November 4. Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, and Anshul Kamboj combined to challenge Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma with sharp bowling, forcing the experienced pair to adapt to New Zealand’s conditions.
Nabi, in particular, stood out with his swing and movement, repeatedly beating Kohli’s outside edge and leaving him frustrated after multiple deliveries troubled his pads. The trio’s disciplined line and bounce disrupted the rhythm of India’s senior batsmen, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul also showed promise with solid shots during the session.
Shubman Gill was absent, focusing on a separate gym session, but the rest of the top order engaged fully in the demanding practice. Nabi’s inclusion in India’s ODI squad for the first three matches—replacing injured Prasidh Krishna—adds depth to the bowling attack as the team prepares for the series opener.
