England thump Sri Lanka by 119 runs in first T20 after Brook’s brutal 114 – as it happened

England claimed an emphatic 119-run triumph against Sri Lanka during the opening Twenty20 clash hosted in Southampton, set up by a blistering 114 from their captain off merely 14 deliveries. The hosts capitalized on a true batting surface and a fast outfield, with bowler Sonny Baker backing up the batting display by claiming three scalps in the comprehensive win.

Earlier in the innings, Harry Brook arrived at the crease in the third over with England positioned at 36 for one, rotating the strike alongside Jos Buttler, who had reached 21, as Dunith Wellalage conceded five runs alongside a dismissal in his opening over. The contest also featured debutant Nye Donald, who departed caught at mid-off from a miscue off the end of his bat, concluding his maiden batting outing with a striking rate of 240.
