England ease to T20 series win over Sri Lanka

England wrapped up an insurmountable 2-0 advantage in their three-game series after securing a six-wicket triumph over Sri Lanka in Cardiff on Thursday. Chosen to bat first, the visitors produced 56 runs during their powerplay, guided by Pathum Nissanka's team-best 37, before player of the match Liam Dawson turned the momentum by snaring two scalps in successive deliveries to conclude the sixth over.

Dawson had Lahiru Udara caught by tall fielder Jamie Overton at long-on before pouching Kamil Mishara off his own bowling on his way to figures of 3-32, while Jofra Archer added two dismissals during the 20th over to restrict Sri Lanka to 145-9.

Chasing 146, the hosts crossed the finish line with roughly eight overs remaining behind Tom Banton's unbeaten 52 from 24 deliveries, a knock highlighted by four maximums. England had already reached 79-3 through seven overs thanks to rapid contributions from skipper Harry Brook, who supplied 23 from eight balls, and Jos Buttler, whose 16-ball 30 made him the initial cricketer to reach 15,000 runs in the T20 format.
