The Philadelphia Eagles made roster adjustments to their running back group on Tuesday, promoting Elijah Mitchell from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster. Mitchell, who previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, brings experience from three seasons with the 49ers, where he rushed for 1,523 yards and nine touchdowns over 327 carries, along with a single game appearance for the Chiefs last year.
The move clears space after the Eagles waived Jaydon Blue and Carson Steele. Steele was released with an injury designation following a shoulder injury suffered in Week 6, while Blue had joined the active roster before last Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers but did not see any playing time.
The Eagles’ current roster backs include Saquon Barkley, who has been sidelined for the past two games due to a hamstring injury, and Dameon Pierce.
