Washington fell 17-23 on Monday Night Football as early miscues stalled the offense. Quarterback Jayden Daniels missed several early throws, including a short pass to Antonio Williams that could have been a 21‑yard touchdown, and failed to connect with tight end Chig Okonkwo and running back Rachaad White.
Stefon Diggs dropped a pass that ended the opening drive, and his earlier drops in Week 1 have contributed to a low 63% catch rate this season, down from his 83.3% rate last year with New England. Terry McLaurin also recorded three drops despite playing just 61% of the snaps.
The Commanders settled for a field goal by Drew Stevens after the stalled drive, and Daniels only found rhythm in the second half, but it was insufficient to overcome the deficit.
The loss highlighted ongoing issues with ball security and early‑game execution for Washington, as key receivers struggled to secure passes and the quarterback’s timing remained inconsistent. Daniels’ limited experience and injury history were noted as factors affecting his development, while the team’s reliance on big plays early in games proved costly against a resilient opponent.
