Duke Gets Major Power Rankings Push From ESPN

Despite starting the season with four consecutive victories and stringing together an eight-game win streak dating back to last year's ACC championship run, the Blue Devils were omitted from the latest Associated Press poll. ESPN has taken a much kinder view of the squad by slotting them twenty-second, powered by a stellar defense that sits inside the top twelve nationally in overall stopping power and run prevention.

On the offensive side, running back Nate Sheppard leads all Football Bowl Subdivision rushers with six hundred forty-four yards on the ground, outpacing a prominent Heisman candidate. This production has helped offset significant offseason departures through the transfer portal, including quarterback Darian Mensah and wideout Cooper Barkate leaving for Miami.

Quarterback Walker Eget has stepped in to throw for seven hundred twenty-one yards, six touchdowns, and one interception so far.

Following a bye week, the schedule features a road trip against a struggling Georgia Tech squad before winnable autumn matchups with North Carolina, Virginia, Boston College, and North Carolina State. The degree of difficulty increases substantially in November with a trip to face fourth-ranked Miami, a home contest against Clemson, and a regular-season finale on the road versus Wake Forest.
