Drew Timme’s NBA journey took a new turn as he was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves after four preseason games, only to be immediately scooped up by the Phoenix Suns. The 6-foot-10 forward, a Gonzaga standout, signed a two-way contract with Phoenix, filling their final such spot and replacing guard Koby Brea to bolster frontcourt depth under second-year coach Jordan Ott.
Timme, who averaged 6.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in limited preseason action with Minnesota, will split time between the Suns and their G League affiliate, the Valley Suns, where he’ll reunite with former Gonzaga teammate David Stockton. This marks his sixth NBA organization since going undrafted in 2023, including a prior two-way stint with the Lakers and South Bay Lakers last season.
With Timme’s addition, Phoenix now boasts 12 active former Gonzaga players across their roster, underscoring the program’s continued influence in the league.
