Get startedLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is set to hold a discussion with Shohei Ohtani regarding the team's strategy for NLCS Game 3. This development follows a 7-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, which leaves the Dodgers trailing 0-2 in the NL Championship Series.
Ohtani has struggled at the plate throughout the current postseason, recording a .150 batting average with three hits in 20 at-bats. He has failed to register any extra-base hits during this stretch.
His offensive production has been limited for an extended period, as his last home run occurred on August 18 at Coors Field. Since that date, he has contributed only one run batted in.
The star player has been dealing with physical setbacks for several months, specifically lingering injuries to his right biceps and left knee. These issues have persisted since at least June and resulted in a stint on the 15-day injured list during September.
Addressing the situation after the Game 2 defeat, Dave Roberts spoke to The Athletic about Ohtani's performance. Roberts stated, "Yeah I mean obviously it hasn't been good." Roberts further explained the necessity of the upcoming meeting, noting, "He doesn't feel great.
I think for me, it's having a conversation with him tomorrow, kind of try to figure out what's best for him, what's best for us. He certainly has earned that conversation and deserves it."
The Dodgers are now preparing for NLCS Game 3, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday. The game will begin at 8 p.m. ET, 7 CT, 5 PT, with coverage provided on FS1, FOX Deportes, and FOX One.
