Former LIV Golf player enters top 50 rankings for the first time

The Official World Golf Ranking update for October 13, 2026, brought a historic milestone for Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra, who surged into the top 50 for the first time in his career. The former LIV Golf player, who joined the league after graduating from Oklahoma State University, left the competition in 2025 and secured full DP World Tour status by winning the Hero Indian Open on a sponsor’s invite.

His breakthrough performance continued with a T-2 finish at the Spanish Open last weekend, where he climbed five spots to No. 50 despite playing through a broken toe.

The ranking reflects his rapid rise, as points earned over a two-year period—weighted more heavily in recent weeks—propelled him into elite company. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler maintained his No.

1 ranking, underscoring his dominance in the sport as the top golfer globally. The top 50 now includes a mix of established stars and rising talents, with Lopez-Chacarra’s achievement marking a standout moment in the latest rankings.
