Daniil Medvedev has publicly criticized the tennis balls utilized at Roland Garros, labeling them the worst option on the professional circuit. The athlete noted a significant disparity in his service game performance, citing an 87.1% success rate when competing without Wilson equipment compared to 81.4% when using them.
Despite reaching the quarter-finals at the French Open, he remains dissatisfied with the specific ball model currently in play. Medvedev also discussed his struggles during the American hard-court swing with Andrey Rublev, noting that both players questioned whether recent changes to the balls impacted their consistency on the court.
The Russian star expressed that these equipment frustrations have occasionally led him to contemplate leaving the sport entirely.
