Coco Gauff in cheat row after stopping match mid-point

Coco Gauff advanced to the next round at the China Open following a straight-sets victory over Sun Xinran, but faced intense online backlash after halting a first-set point due to a flickering electronic advertisement. The umpire reviewed the incident and ordered the rally to be replayed, allowing Gauff to secure the point and eventually wrap up the match 7-5, 6-1.

Following the contest, Gauff condemned a flood of racist messages and harassment on social media, while defending her decision to pause play as entirely compliant with tournament regulations.
