Harmanpreet Kaur has stepped down from her position as captain of the national women's cricket team across all formats. This announcement was shared on Instagram on Tuesday, October 6, shortly after she guided the squad to a gold medal finish at the 2026 Asian Games.
Former national team players Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan both took to social media to commend her for handling the heavy pressures and responsibilities of leadership with immense pride throughout her tenure. Harmanpreet previously made history by becoming the first female skipper from her country to lead the side to a fifty-over World Cup championship.
