Washington Capitals legend Alex Ovechkin will conclude his historic NHL career with a final home stand against the Vancouver Canucks. The 41-year-old forward, who announced his retirement after the 2026–27 season, will face Vancouver twice in December—first at Capital One Arena on December 1, then at Rogers Arena on December 7 for what will likely be his last game.
Ovechkin, the NHL’s all-time leading scorer with 929 goals and 1,688 points in 22 seasons, holds a strong record against the Canucks, including 16 goals and 28 points in 30 career matchups. His rivalry with Vancouver extends to a landmark achievement: in 2022, he broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for most road goals in NHL history during a game against the Canucks.
Beyond his offensive prowess, Ovechkin’s resume includes a Stanley Cup, nine Rocket Richard Trophies, three Hart Trophies, and a spot on the NHL’s 100 Greatest Players list, cementing his legacy as one of the game’s all-time greats.
