A Texas-based political group made headlines Sunday after airing high-profile ads during multiple NFL games across the country, leveraging Fox’s early 1 p.m. ET broadcast window to maximize reach.
Texas PAC, which has invested over $100 million to support Ken Paxton’s U.S. Senate campaign, ran ads featuring Paxton’s estranged wife, state Sen.
Angela Paxton, urging voters to back the Republican ticket without directly naming her husband. The spots also included attacks on Democratic nominee James Talarico.
The ads aired repeatedly during four separate games—Cowboys vs. Texans, Rams vs.
Eagles, Packers vs. Buccaneers, and Jets vs.
Bears—covering markets from the West Coast to the Midwest, including New York and parts of Florida. While the Cowboys-Texans game was shown statewide in Texas, the ads reached tens of millions of viewers nationwide, including in non-voting markets.
A national buy during this window was far cheaper than piecing together a statewide ad campaign, with a single 30-second spot in Texas’s four largest markets costing over $2 million alone. The strategy underscored the cost-efficiency of national NFL ad packages compared to fragmented regional buys.
