Candace Parker’s Defensive Challenge to Cheryl Reeve Unfulfilled as Olivia Miles and Co. Fail in Playoff Battle

Despite holding the top seed following a stellar thirty-three and eleven regular season, the Minnesota Lynx suffered a second consecutive postseason defeat against the New York Liberty. Olivia Miles endured a difficult playoff series, managing only eleven points in the opening ninety-one to seventy-five loss and following up with just five points on one-of-eight shooting in the subsequent game.

Prior to that second defeat, Candace Parker utilized her podcast to suggest defensive adjustments for Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve, advising that Miles needed relief from bringing the ball up the court through screens or alternative entries. However, those suggested tactical shifts were not successfully implemented during the matchup.

New York capitalized on their physical advantage and interior size, highlighted by Jonquel Jones securing twenty-one points and thirteen rebounds to seal the series sweep.
