Bucks sign Johni Broome to training camp roster

October 6, 2026

The Milwaukee Bucks have added former Philadelphia 76ers forward Johni Broome to their training camp roster on a non-guaranteed deal. Broome, a 2025 NBA Draft pick (35th overall), spent most of last season with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League, where he averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game over 26 appearances before undergoing meniscus surgery in February.

Despite his strong college career at Auburn—where he was a consensus All-American—Broome struggled in limited NBA action with the Sixers, managing just 0.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in 11 games, largely in garbage time. His perimeter shooting remained a concern, shooting just 22.9% from three in the G League, while his size and skill set as a big man have yet to fully translate to the NBA’s highest level.

Broome’s path to Milwaukee follows a brief stint with the LA Clippers, who acquired him in a trade before waiving him amid roster adjustments. To make room for Broome, the Bucks released John Butler Jr., who had previously played for the Wisconsin Herd in the G League.

Broome will now compete for an open two-way spot in Milwaukee’s preseason, where he could back up a frontcourt featuring Myles Turner, Kel’el Ware, and Jericho Sims if he earns a permanent role.
