Australian umpire Ben Treloar is participating in the 2026-27 BCCI-Cricket Australia Umpire Exchange Programme, where he is officiating two Ranji Trophy games. While he is in India, Parashar Joshi will head to Australia to umpire in the One-Day Cup and Sheffield Shield.
Treloar recently worked at the Palam Ground in Delhi, where he noted that the black-soil pitch remained low and didn't deteriorate, requiring him to stay at one end for nearly four days.
In a high-scoring match that saw one side reach 650 runs and the other score over 460, Treloar praised the precision and skill of Indian spin bowlers. He mentioned that the weather was comfortable, with temperatures around 30-31 degrees and a light breeze, which he found similar to his home conditions.
He observed that while Australian pitches typically favor fast bowlers due to more grass and bounce, the gifted nature of Indian spinners is highly evident.
