
Tajinderpal Singh Toor secured a silver medal in the shot put event during the Asian Games after registering a best throw of 20.64 meters on a wet evening. His performance was bested by Iran competitor Tayebise Mohammadreza, whose mark of 20.81 meters set a new Games record and surpassed the previous record held by Toor since the 2018 edition in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Saudi competitor Mohammed Tolu rounded out the podium by taking the bronze medal with a 20.48-meter effort. In track events, Prachi Choudhary earned a bronze medal in the women 400-meter race with a time of 53.21 seconds, while Salwa Eid Naser captured the gold with a Games-record performance of 49.20 seconds ahead of silver medalist Zahra Zarei Manoujan and fifth-place finisher Kiran Pahal.
Additionally, Tejaswin Shankar established an early lead in the decathlon competition after accumulating 4,338 points on the opening day, claiming top spots in both the high jump and long jump disciplines.
