Neeru Dhanda captured a historic individual trap shooting gold medal for India at the Asian Games by hitting 28 of 30 targets. Her dominant performance broke the previous continental record of 24 and established her as the first Indian woman to achieve this feat at the event.
Sun Yunong of China secured second place with 26 hits, while Abdulmalik Hajar from Kuwait claimed the bronze medal with a score of 21.
This victory marks only the second individual trap shooting gold for an Indian competitor in tournament history, following Randhir Singh's performance in Bangkok back in 1978. Previous Indian medalists in the discipline include Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Lakshay Sheoran, and Kynan Chenai.
Neeru arrived at the competition riding a wave of strong momentum, having previously claimed a World Cup gold in Lonato and a championship title earlier in the year.
