Asian Games: India’s biggest hits and flops - from golf gold to tennis medal drought

India wrapped up their campaign at the continental multi-sport event in fourth place overall. The delegation secured a total of eighty-five medals, featuring twenty-one gold finishes, which fell short of their previous haul from Hangzhou.

Track and field disciplines led the national count with twenty-four podium finishes, while disciplines such as archery, wrestling, cricket, boxing, and golf also contributed notable triumphs. Conversely, several other sports failed to meet expectations, resulting in disappointing outcomes for tennis, badminton, fencing, volleyball, and esports competitors, alongside mixed performances in rowing, shooting, and table tennis.
