The Bangladesh Cricket Board has dismissed Mohammad Ashraful from his role as the national batting coach ahead of the upcoming Test series against the West Indies. Ashraful, who began his tenure in November 2025, confirmed his departure after being removed from the team's internal communication channels.
His time in the position included notable Test series victories over Pakistan, Ireland, and Australia, though recent struggles during the Asian Games and a tri-nation tournament in Abu Dhabi ultimately led to the board's decision.
Salahuddin has been appointed as the interim batting coach for the series starting on October 28. While the board searches for a permanent replacement, potentially considering international candidates, the squad must quickly refocus for the opening match.
During his time with the team, Ashraful oversaw 34 international matches, during which the side recorded 11 centuries.
