Arunachal Pradesh faces the risk of forfeiting its Ranji Trophy Plate Group opener against Nagaland, scheduled to begin on October 11 in Ahmedabad, due to a prolonged internal dispute within the state cricket association. The conflict has left the team without a functional selection committee, with no authority currently able to make roster decisions.
Players under contract for the season remain uncertain about their participation, as the association’s election results—where Nabam Vivek was elected president in September—have been challenged in the Itanagar High Court. The court has yet to rule, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) cannot intervene independently, as it did in Bihar’s case, because the matter remains sub judice.
The crisis extends beyond the Ranji Trophy, as Arunachal Pradesh was also unable to field its U-19 squad for a Vinoo Mankad Trophy match against Sikkim in Bhubaneswar.
