Pakistan begin home T20 season with new captain Sahibzada Farhan, third in as many years

Pakistan enters its home T20 campaign with Sahibzada Farhan taking over as captain, marking the third leadership change in three years. The squad for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka excludes former captains Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Salman Ali Agha as the team looks toward the 2028 World Cup.

Veterans Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan have been recalled to join the side. Sri Lanka, led by new captain Kusal Mendis, arrives following a series loss in England and has excluded Charith Asalanka, Dilshan Madushanka, and Janith Liyanage, while Wanindu Hasaranga is sidelined due to injury.

Mendis has also assumed the role of Test captain following the resignation of Dhananjaya de Silva. The T20 series will be followed by a tri-series involving England starting October 18.
