Angel Reese contract, salary and what's next after Atlanta Dream's WNBA Finals run

Angel Reese’s standout 2026 season with the Atlanta Dream culminated in a historic WNBA Finals run, though the team fell short in Game 7 to the Golden State Valkyries. The 24-year-old center, a three-time All-Star and 2026 Defensive Player of the Year, anchored Atlanta’s first-ever Finals appearance with dominant rebounding and double-doubles.

Her journey to the Dream began in April 2026, when Chicago traded her for Atlanta’s 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, plus a 2028 second-round selection. Reese’s current contract, a one-year deal worth $396,282 in 2027, could see a major overhaul thanks to the WNBA’s new collective bargaining agreement.

After earning All-WNBA second-team honors, she qualifies for the Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract (EPIC) provision, allowing the Dream to offer a maximum four-year deal—potentially exceeding $1.19 million annually—with supermax extensions possible thereafter, given rising salary caps next season. Beyond the WNBA, Reese will return to the Unrivaled Basketball League in January 2027, reuniting with former LSU teammate Flau’Jae Johnson and Dream players Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and Naz.

She’ll also join the Rose BC team, where she led the inaugural 2025 season in rebounding and was named Defensive Player of the Year, though she missed much of the 2026 campaign due to injuries and a team suspension before rejoining midseason.
