Allan Donald appointed Joburg Super Kings bowling coach for SA20 2027

Joburg Super Kings have made a high-profile coaching appointment ahead of the SA20 2027 season, naming Allan Donald as their new bowling coach. The 59-year-old former South African fast bowler replaces Eric Simons, who left to join Stephen Fleming’s coaching staff in England.

Donald’s arrival follows the franchise’s restructuring of its backroom team, with Albie Morkel recently appointed as head coach after Fleming’s departure at the end of the 2026 season. JSK, which has yet to win the SA20 title, finished fourth in both the 2025 and 2026 campaigns, adding urgency to the coaching overhaul.

Donald brings extensive experience, having served as a bowling consultant for England, New Zealand, and South Africa, as well as coaching roles in the IPL and county cricket. The franchise has also retained key players like Faf du Plessis, Wiaan Mulder, and Kieron Pollard ahead of the upcoming auction, signaling a focus on continuity as they aim to improve their performance in 2027.
