India vs West Indies T20I free passes sold for Rs 6,000, HCA member among 4 arrested

October 14, 2026

Hyderabad law enforcement detained four individuals, including Hyderabad Cricket Association official Satish Chandra Srivastava, for the unauthorized resale of complimentary tickets for the fourth T20I between India and the West Indies. Officers recovered eleven passes explicitly labeled as not for sale, along with cash, mobile devices, and a two-wheeler, after receiving a tip about illicit sales near SD Mall in Begum Bazar on October 12.

The suspects, who also included Srivastava's son Akarshit, Avinash Darak, and Mohit Somani, allegedly procured the tickets through the HCA member and advertised them on social media platforms for prices ranging from Rs 3,500 to Rs 6,000. Police stated that approximately nine of these restricted passes had already changed hands before the arrests were made on October 13.

The case has been registered under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the City Police Act, prompting an inquiry into how the association distributed the restricted passes. Authorities have urged the public to use only official channels for ticket purchases and warned that trading in non-transferable passes carries legal consequences.

This incident occurs with India holding a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, where a victory in Hyderabad would secure an unassailable advantage before the final contest in Bengaluru.
