Washington Huskies quarterback Demond Williams Jr. remains out of action for Saturday’s matchup against Purdue, with head coach Jedd Fisch offering little optimism about his availability.
Williams, who left last week’s game against Iowa with an upper-body injury after just two quarters, did not participate in Monday’s practice and is unlikely to play unless there’s a significant improvement in his condition. Fisch acknowledged the uncertainty, stating that a decision on Williams’ status won’t be finalized until Thursday, but added that a return seems improbable given his current physical state.
The Huskies’ struggles have deepened since Williams’ exit, with three consecutive losses in Big Ten play, including the 41-24 defeat to Iowa where backup Elijah Brown stepped in and threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Washington’s season has shifted from early non-conference wins to a concerning downward trend, with the quarterback situation now a critical factor heading into the Purdue game.
